THE BLACK DUCK

In the heart of Prohibition, on a cold December night in 1929, the daring rumrunner Black Duck sped through Naragansett Bay, evading the

Coast Guard with a cargo of prized rum. The Coast Guard’s patrol boat C.G. 290, desperate to enforce the law, engaged in a fateful chase

that ended in gunfire and the tragic loss of three brave souls aboard the Black Duck.

This notorious event, shrouded in both heroism and tragedy, highlighted the intense struggle between law enforcement and the bootleggers who

risked everything for the sake of a good drink. The public outcry that followed the shootout became a turning point in the fight against

Prohibition, ultimately contributing to the law’s repeal in 1933.

Inspired by the audacious spirit of these legendary rumrunners, Black Duck Rum pays homage to those who lived boldly and defied the odds. Crafted with the finest ingredients and aged to perfection, each bottle of Black Duck Rum embodies the courage and resilience of a bygone era.
